"I currently am the Fairveiw Teacher Assistant for Years 1 & 2.

What I enjoy most about my Teacher Assistant role is building meaningful relationships with students and supporting them in their learning journey. I find it rewarding to help students gain confidence, overcome challenges, and experience moments of success, no matter how big or small. Working collaboratively with teachers, work colleagues, and being part of a supportive school community make my role both fulfilling and motivating.

One of my most memorable experiences as a Teacher Assistant in Fairview at Aitken College was supporting a small group of students who initially lacked confidence in their learning. Through consistent encouragement, clear guidance, and collaboration with the classroom teacher, I watched these students gradually become more engaged and willing to participate. Seeing their progress, especially the moment they proudly shared their work with their class peers, was incredibly rewarding. This experience reinforced the importance of patience, positive relationships, and creating a supportive learning environment where every student feels valued.

Throughout my 15 yrs several moments have shaped my time at Aitken College, particularly working closely with diverse students who needed extra academic or emotional support. Being trusted to guide them through challenges, celebrate small successes, and support their well-being helped me grow in confidence as a Teacher Assistant. Collaborating with dedicated staff and witnessing the positive impact of a supportive school culture reinforced my commitment to helping students feel safe, capable, and motivated in their learning, and overall very gratifying"

"One of my most memorable experiences at Aitken College was being part of the Melbourne High football program and completing ten years as a coach. We won the trophy more than we lost, ensuring a dominant legacy. That journey was incredibly rewarding and provided countless moments of growth, teamwork, and pride, both on and off the field. It remains a standout chapter of my time here.

Several experiences have shaped my journey at Aitken, particularly supporting students through competitive sport. Helping guide multiple teams through to the state level in Hoop Time basketball was a highlight, as it showcased student commitment, resilience, and the power of working together towards a shared goal.

My previous roles at the college included interim House Coordinator, SSV Coordinator, and Head of Year, which strengthened my passion for leadership and student development. What I valued most was working closely with students and staff to create positive, inclusive experiences that extended well beyond the classroom."
