Accelium Olympics

In an impressive display of excellence, a team of Aitken College students has secured first place in Australia and an impressive 5th place globally in this year’s International Accelium Thinking Olympics! This online tournament, held in June, brought together 37 of our dedicated Dunhelen students, who showcased their exceptional strategic skills and problem-solving abilities on a global stage.

The International Accelium Thinking Olympics is a rigorous competition where students from around the world engage in challenging strategy games that test their critical thinking and logical reasoning. This year, the tournament saw participation from over 17,000 students across 108 schools in 13 countries. Our team’s remarkable performance not only showcases their individual talents but highlights our school’s commitment to fostering intellectual skills and teamwork.

Our students’ success is a testament to their hard work and preparation. In the two weeks leading up to the tournament, students had the opportunity to engage in intensive practice workouts. These practice sessions were instrumental in honing their strategies and familiarising them with the challenges they would face. The dedication and effort during this preparation period clearly paid off, contributing significantly to their outstanding results.

A special congratulations goes out to our top three achievers: Ronan K (9D), Revaan A (8J) and Archer H (8S), who earned first, second, and third place in Australia respectively. Their individual accomplishments were pivotal in securing our team’s national and international rankings. One of our standout students, Revaan A  shared his thoughts on the achievement:

“Accelium has been a life-changing experience for me. Being part of the Accelium team, and achieving such high results, has meant a lot to me, and it is an achievement I would remember for the rest of my life. This experience has taught me the value of strategic thinking, and collaboration. I would love to do Accelium again as it gives me the opportunity to enhance my analytical thinking skills. I look forward for the challenge next year.”
