Beauty of Diversity

As part of the Start Up Unit, students in Prep to Year 6 explored the power of monochromatic design using fine liners and coloured pencils to create a stunning collaborative mural. Every primary student and staff members have contributed a mini monochromatic self-portrait, reflecting both individual identity and collective unity.

Our amazing studio assistant, Emma Jensen, has carefully collated these portraits into a breathtaking final composition—an analogous masterpiece that celebrates the beauty of diversity. This task has engaged students in colour theory, self-expression, and community art, fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for one another’s unique contributions.

As Maya Angelou beautifully reminds us:

"We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their colour."

The mural is now proudly displayed in the Cumberland Gallery for the rest of this term.
