Witness Out Students Bringing "The Wedding Singer" to the College in 2026

The College Musical is the mid-year highpoint of the school calendar. From humble beginnings and on the smell of an oily rag, this annual event has created amazing memories for more than 1000 students, in onstage, backstage and orchestra roles. Close to 25 000 people have attended college musicals since Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in 2002.

It brings together students from across year levels to collaborate, build confidence, and develop their talents in music, drama, and dance. Beyond the stage, it fosters teamwork, resilience, and a strong sense of community, uniting staff, families, and friends in celebration of our students’ creativity and dedication.

The musical is not just a performance; it is a transformative experience that reflects the spirit, diversity, and excellence of our college.

Rehearsals for this year’s musical are now underway, with more than 50 students already involved both in onstage cast and the band. More students and staff will be added to backstage and front of house responsibilities, making this a truly community effort.

The first rehearsal provided a chance for the cast to understand their roles and run through an overview of the show, and for the band to play the score together for the first time.

Following the rehearsal, a welcome BBQ was held for families to get to know the staff involved in the musical and make connections with other families, as well as for the cast and band to socialise and meet those from other year levels.

The Wedding Singer is a high-energy, heart-warming show based on the hit film. Set in the vibrant 1980s, it follows Robbie Hart, a charismatic wedding singer whose own heartbreak leads him on an unexpected journey toward true love.

Just like last year’s production of Mamma Mia, it is filled with catchy songs, big dance numbers, and plenty of humour. Our production will be presented in a family-friendly way so audiences of all ages can enjoy the fun and romance.

We look forward to welcoming you to the CPA this July for what promises to be a fantastic celebration of talent and entertainment!

We congratulate this year’s cast and can’t wait to see them shine.
