Structured Workplace Learning

Written by Mrs Jenny Lilley (Head of Faculty - Vocational Major)

Over the past week, while senior school exams have been underway, our VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) students have been engaged in Structured Workplace Learning (SWL).

Throughout the term students were required to investigate and then secure a placement in their chosen industry.

This year students are exploring a diverse range of industries including Electrotechnology, Building and Construction, Agriculture, Plumbing and Aviation Line Maintenance.

During SWL, the students have a chance to step outside the classroom and experience what working in a real job is like. It helps students build confidence, learn new skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience in an industry that interests them.

Students additionally become more prepared for employment, apprenticeships, traineeships, and further study while giving them a better understanding of the world of work.

We wish them all the best as they take onboard this valuable experience and look forward to hearing about what they discovered when they return to school.
