Book Swap

The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous Languages and culture, while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

The ambassador for the ILF Australian author, Andy Griffiths says “The Great Book Swap is a really fun way to swap one of your pre -loved books for another book that (who knows?!) you might end up loving even more. And, even better, for the price of a gold coin you’ll be raising funds to ensure that kids in remote Communities have the chance to fall in love with books and reading as well.”

Earlier this term, in conjunction with our Community Service Parent Group, the library put a call out for donations of unwanted books. The books were sorted and categorised by a dedicated team of volunteers.

All books were then offered for sale in an afternoon book stall held in the primary building.

A huge thank-you to the Aitken College community for helping raise $762.25 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This money will be used to purchase new carefully chosen books for children in remote Communities across the country.
