As a school associated with the Uniting Church of Australia, Aitken seeks to provide guidance and teaching in the Christian faith and ethos. Our College Chaplain is Reverend Gavin Blakemore.
Chaplaincy aims firstly to provide religious and spiritual leadership across the college. This includes the leadership of weekly Monday chapel services and the provision of pastoral care to students, families and staff.
Chaplaincy works with the Wellbeing program to provide wholistic wellbeing services including the Seasons for Growth programs.
It works closely with the RVE program and teachers in providing Religion and Values Education to all the students from Prep to Year 10.
Community programs are also offered by Chaplaincy with whole college offerings around 6 evenings a year. Typically this has include a Games Night and Easter Celebration in Term 1, a Mario Kart Competition and Movie Night in Term 2 and 3, and a Pet Blessing and Christmas Carols in Term 4.
The Chaplain is chairperson for the College Community Service Committee and works with students, staff and families to encourage service to the wider community and raise charitable funds.
Once a month on a Sunday afternoon, we welcome our faith community to worship in the CPA foyer on a Sunday afternoon, led by the College Chaplain.
The chaplain is available to offer baptism and confirmation and by negotiation may offer to officiate at Weddings or Funerals.
Christian prayer and blessings are offered at official school events.
