Students from Years 3–12 recently took part in the annual House Athletics Carnivals, held at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium.
Cumberland was fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather, creating the perfect conditions for a fantastic day of competition and school spirit. The event was enjoyed by all, with high levels of enthusiasm and participation across every year level. Students demonstrated excellent effort, determination, and teamwork as they competed in a wide range of track and field events. A special mention goes to the Year 11 VSR students, who provided outstanding support throughout the day. They assisted with both track and field events, offering encouragement, modelling techniques, and demonstrating terrific leadership to younger students.

There were also some impressive athletic performances, with several records broken in field events, highlighting the talent and dedication of our students.
The Dunhelen Athletics Carnival this year was one of the best yet. Student participation and enthusiasm were high, resulting in closely contested events across both track and field. The perfect sunny weather likely contributed to students’ eagerness to get involved. House spirit was outstanding throughout the day, with students cheering loudly for their friends and fellow housemates, creating an energetic atmosphere that made the carnival a memorable success. As always the Yr 11 VSR and the Brookhill Sports and House Captains worked alongside the staff to provide assistance to ensure that the day ran smoothly.

Finally, the Brookhill Carnival finished a successful week of Athletics Days. The day was all about participation with something for everyone, not only did students participate in the traditional events on the track and in the field, but this year also included a Novelty session where students took part in games such as sack races, 3-legged races and even dodgeball to win points for their respective houses (even some of the staff joined in). Thank you to all staff especially the PE team and to the Dunhelen Sports and House Captains for your assistance as always.

Overall, the three carnivals were a wonderful celebration of House spirit, participation, and achievement. Congratulations to all students who took part and contributed to making the carnival such a memorable success.
