Sustainability

Aitken College which is a 5-star Resource Smart School has a commitment to environmental responsibility throughout its academic and extracurricular activities. Sustainability is incorporated into the curriculum across various subjects, with students encouraged to be involved in groups and undertake sustainability leadership positions.

At Aitken College there are many opportunities for students to be actively involved in community and school-based sustainability initiatives. Some examples include overseeing the propagation process for the Mickleham Road Upgrade Project, contributing to the revegetation of Brodies Creek in partnership with Melbourne Water and creating island habitats for the endangered Golden Sun Moth.

Through the implementation of student focused innovative programs, such as precious plastics and bokashi composting, the College aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to address pressing environmental challenges.
