College Musical The Wedding Singer

Written by Mr Jevon Scandrett (Head of Performing Arts Faculty)

20 July 2026

Excitement is building across the College as more than 70 students prepare to take to the stage for this year's major musical production, The Wedding Singer.

It has been inspiring to watch our students bring this vibrant, energetic and hilarious musical to life. Months of rehearsals, collaboration and dedication have culminated in a production that showcases not only incredible talent, but also the commitment, resilience and teamwork of our students.

While audiences will enjoy the colourful costumes, memorable music and entertaining performances, the production represents so much more than what is seen on stage. More than 70 students have been involved across cast on stage, band, backstage crew, technical production and front of house. Every student plays an important role in creating a professional-quality performance.

This production has also been made possible through the dedication of an outstanding team of staff who have generously shared their expertise, creativity and countless hours behind the scenes. From choreography and musical direction to technical production, set construction, costumes, administration and event coordination, staff from across the College have worked together to create an authentic and memorable theatrical experience. Their commitment not only delivers an exceptional production but also provides students with invaluable opportunities to learn from experienced mentors in a supportive and collaborative environment.

School productions provide invaluable learning experiences that extend well beyond the Performing Arts classroom. Students develop confidence, communication skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities while learning to work collaboratively towards a shared goal. They discover the importance of responsibility, time management and perseverance as they balance rehearsals with their academic commitments.

For many students, participating in a musical is also an opportunity to form lasting friendships, challenge themselves in new ways and experience the rewards that come from being part of something bigger than themselves. Watching students grow in confidence from the first rehearsal to opening night is one of the most rewarding aspects of producing a school musical.

Productions of this scale are a wonderful example of what can be achieved when students, staff and families work together. The encouragement of parents and carers, combined with the passion and dedication of our staff, creates an environment where students are empowered to take risks, strive for excellence and celebrate each other's success.

The Wedding Singer promises audiences a fun-filled evening of laughter, romance and iconic 1980s hits. Whether you're supporting a family member, friend or simply enjoying live theatre, this production is a celebration of the remarkable talent, creativity and community spirit that define our College.

I extend my sincere thanks to every student, staff member, volunteer and family who has contributed to this year's production. Their collective effort has created an experience that our students will remember for years to come.

We look forward to welcoming our College community to experience The Wedding Singer and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Performing Arts students.

We hope you enjoy the show!
