Planting Questions, Growing Ideas: National Science Week 2026

National Science Week was a fantastic celebration of curiosity, discovery and learning as students from across our P–12 community came together to explore this year's theme Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All.

Throughout the week, the CPA Courtyard became a lively science hub during lunchtime, with our Secondary Science Ambassadors leading a range of hands-on activities for Primary students. The event was inspired by our school motto for the week, Plant a Question. Grow an Idea; encouraging students to ask questions, investigate the world around them and discover that science is for everyone.

Primary students enthusiastically participated in activities including Cabbage Chemistry, where colourful reactions introduced acids and bases, seed planting, microscope investigations of different seeds, and a variety of interactive science challenges. Each activity encouraged students to make predictions, test ideas and explore scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way.

A highlight of the week was watching our Secondary students step into leadership roles. As Science Ambassadors, they confidently guided younger students through each activity, explained scientific ideas in simple and engaging ways, and encouraged curiosity at every station. Their enthusiasm, patience and willingness to share their knowledge created an exciting learning environment and demonstrated that science is best learned together.

Thank you to our incredible Science Ambassadors for volunteering their time and energy throughout the week. Their leadership helped inspire hundreds of younger students to explore science with confidence and enthusiasm.

We also thank the Science staff for organising the activities and everyone who joined us throughout the week. Your curiosity, participation and sense of fun helped make National Science Week a memorable celebration for our entire school community.
