School Spirit on Show at Athletics

The Athletics Carnival was a great opportunity for students to not only compete for their House but also show the school spirit and culture that make these events so memorable each year.

Throughout the day, students got involved by dressing up in costumes, creating posters, chanting for their Houses, and supporting each other both on and off the track. Whether students were competing in events or cheering from the sidelines, there was a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the entire day.

One of the best parts of the carnival was seeing how many students and teachers got involved in the fun. Staff joined in with dress ups, novelty events, and races, which added to the atmosphere and gave students plenty of moments to laugh about during the day.

Deputy Head of Secondary (Senior School Culture), Mr Dean Taylor, spoke about the importance of events like the Athletics Carnival, saying they allow students to “connect outside the classroom and enjoy being part of the College community.”

Assistant Principal (Secondary), Mr Chris Graham, also praised the positive attitude shown by students throughout the day and the way everyone got involved respectfully while still having fun.

Students said the atmosphere was one of the highlights of the carnival. “Seeing everyone dressed up and supporting their Houses made the day way more exciting”, one Year 12 student shared. Another student said, “It was good seeing teachers get involved as well because it made the whole day feel more fun and relaxed.”

As Sports Captains, we appreciate not only the effort students put into athletic events but also the effort that goes into creating such a positive atmosphere throughout the day. The carnival showed the strong sense of community within the College and gave students a chance to enjoy themselves and make memories with their friends.
